The two hurricanes I've lived through were quite enough, but I will take this hat, please

All blue, but for one green

So, even though I thought it was going to be painful, I took a drive around my hometown - to the historic district, mainly.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Everyone was at work and it was raining, so I pretty much had the street to myself.

I used to live in this neighborhood and go for walks just to look at these houses.

A lot of these houses used to be a bit run down and students lived there. But now it looks as though families have bought them - I kept seeing strollers on the front porches or toys in the yard. That was nice to see. If I owned one of these houses, I would treat it like a jewel.

When I looked at the photos I took, I noticed that a lot of the houses are blue. I dig the blues.

Ok, so there's this one green house, but it's too cute not to share. I love the green with the terra cotta pots. Would love to see it in the spring.

This one is for rent. Don't think I'm not tempted. It's just that it's about an hour and a half from R's job. And it's in this stinkin' town.

I can't hold that against it, though - just look at that front porch!

Too bad you can't just pick up the house and move it. All of these photos have that song running in my head, "one of these things just doesn't belong here" something, somthing...Okay, I can't remember, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about!!!! Okay, it's late and I need to go to bed.

Liss

Maya, I truly believe you must live amongst the prettiest houses in America.

Amy

That's a LOT of blue houses. They are all so pretty. The houses in my town are mostly ugly fake-ranches (except Alexis' - it's lovely).

How're you fairing with R away?

ELK

the blues (and green) are such a treat to look at ...you capture the essence here!

I grew up in a small town in WV and I LOVE walking through the neighborhoods and looking at the old homes that have been restored. Id love to one day own a home that had "character" and a story behind every nook and cranny. Great pics

Beautiful blues (and green!) I'm glad your drive wasn't as bad as you thought it might be. I would love to have a house with a front porch. They look so inviting. Our house has a covered patio in the back and I love that. We can sit out there and watch the rain during the summer, and be out of the sun in the heat of the day.

Teresa

Wow - they're all lovely - everything looks green to me - still white up here...

Ah, I miss my old neighborhood too....so much.

Natalie

I can see the temptation. The houses are gorgeous and the colors to die for.

Wow, those are great. I'd love to see them in Spring, too. :)

jessica

LOVE that porch!

Glad you took winter pictures. Most Georgia landscapes are overgrown and hide the centerpiece.
