Happy accident

I have a couple of ideas for yarn that would include the color brown. So I got some brown dye and dyed up some merino wool roving the other day. You're supposed to stir the pot carefully - and I did, just not often enough. So the color didn't take evenly like I wanted.

Instead of brown, I got this.

And I'm really excited about it.

What do you think? Pretty, yes?

I can't wait to see what it looks like spun up!

pretty 'accident' indeed.

There's nothing like a happy alchemy accident! Next time, try dribbling the dyes (mixed with vinegar or citric acid already)on the roving, wrap in saran, and steam for 40 min. Then you'll have truly painted roving.

Wow! Very pretty! That's so interesting that not stirring enough will give you such a different result.

elizabeth

that is a GORGEOUS accident! it reminds me of that wool you posted a month or so ago that I just loved .. the many colored one from that one company - and I'm sure you know exactly what I mean with that very concise description ;)

Toni

That is a beautiful happy accident! You should do that more often, Maya, but I would imagine anything made would have to be one of a kind and made with one skein of yarn, unless you could dye several at one time.

Lisa Renata

definetely Y.E.S.! What a great accident.
