Shop opening tomorry (+ how to get a lifetime 10% off)
14 July 2009
When I told my mom my big plans for the spinning and the photos and the Etsy shop, she told me that my grandmother used to spin those little pads for Band-Aids at the mill where she worked. That's when I remembered this picture:
This whole yarn business was a spur of the moment decision, but it felt really right - so here we are. I like to think Grandmama would be cheering me on.
I'm opening the shop tomorrow with a few yarns, starting with this one. I'm calling it Fresh Cantaloupe. It's soft orange with a rind of very pale green. It's more of a mini-skein, really - not a lot of yardage, but it's chunky and squishy soft. For some reason, I'm particularly fond of it.
I have 12 finished yarns at the moment, but it will take me a few days to get them all listed. I'm planning for three a day. And I have more wool on its way that I can't wait to get my hands on. I'm starting off slow, but I've got lots of big plans for the future and I hope you'll join me.
I'll also have notecards in the shop - should be by the end of the week (but I'll let you know!). I'm starting with two different sets, three different scenes in each. One is a yarny theme and the other is more of a "things you see in the South" theme. But I plan to expand on that as well and to offer a few prints by next month. More about that soon.
Now for the good stuff - I want to give a few people a lifetime 10% off for being so kind as to place an order with me. So the first person to buy something from the yarn section and the first person to buy something from the photography section will get 10% off any order they place with me, forever. Also, because it's going to take a little while to fill the shop, anyone who buys something for the first month that the shop is open will be entered into a drawing to win a third lifetime 10% off.
So wish me luck & tell all your friends - I'm open for business tomorrow!
good luck with the shop. I love etsy :)I'll be stalking your shop tomorrow!
