The Remains of the Duck
Whew - what a day!

Around the block

V got a bike for her birthday, so I took her outside to ride for a bit on Sunday afternoon.

v 100

It's still a bit big for her, so after a while she wanted to take her trike for a ride around the block.

v 106

Was really wanting to stop and take pictures of these in b&w. But V's a girl on the go and I had to keep up.

v 108

Around the bend, we came to this yellow and green lawn, which I thought would look pretty cool in b&w.

v 110

Feels a bit surreal to me.

Deb, one of my twitter contacts gave me a link to a great post on the Digital Photography School blog on different ways to convert color photos to black and white.

And I found this blog, K AB A K UBA, with some pretty intense b&w photography via another twitter contact, LensBaby. (Have I mentioned before how much I want this LensBaby with the plastic optic? No? Well, I do. Hopefully Santa reads my blog [or Lensbaby. ha].)

Maya, First of all, beautiful images! Secondly, thanks for the great links. And lastly....and this is important....
I,too, was salivating over the Lensbaby. I took a deep breathe and emailed them with a link to my blog. They offered me a really great Lensbaby Lens WITH macro lenses to boot. All I have to do is try it out and if I like it, I can purchase it for 50% off. Soooo....I have been playing with it for a couple of months now. Review coming soon!

Porch Days

You didn't explain why the lawn was green and yellow and had that pattern in it!

maya

I don't have any idea why it's like that! Maybe someone else knows...

Sandra Olensky

A bike! How awesome Maya :) the perfect gift for a girl who loves to be outdoors! I love the picture of that lawn too; how did they get that pattern????

Damien Franco

You'll love the Lensbaby Composer with plastic optics. I always look for excuses to use mine. It takes some getting used to and quite a bit of fiddling around, but it can add so much creativity to your photography.

Yvonne

I'm right there with you on that Lensbaby fun so totally want that one too. What fun you can have with it!

Gayle

Wow, a new bike is so exciting! These images are great, and that grass is weird! I wonder what caused that.

Diane

I adore the first two photos and the ones of the bi-colour lawn -- wow, that must have been a lot of work to create it so well. They are obviously creative people.

So glad you found the DIgital photography school. I check them out weekly -- a great resource.

I think I'm in the minority but I don't care for Lensbaby lenses at all. I think your photography is great without it :)

Jude Cowell

the lawn IS cool in b'n'w! and the white rabbit and see-saw are nice touches too

Puna

Maya, I can't believe it's been a year! I found you again through Gayle at Planet M Files and would love to play along with you from time to time this month. Wonderful!

Toni

I love my Lensbaby. I just saw Monkey's Momma's comment - I would have never thought to contact them, I just forked over the cash! I would like some of the optics, though... =)

patty

these are stunning photos... i love the first two best, but i'm a mom.. maybe i'm biased?! :)
