The Sandpit
Today I'm...

Only 10 days, 11 hours, 16 minutes to go!

Did you know it's almost Pi Day? Math geeks & math dolts (like me) alike love Pi Day! Why? Well for the geeks, it's a good chance to revel in the wonderfulness of an unending number (ok, so it's not exactly a number - it's "the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter" but, dude, I don't really know what that means so you'll have to cut me some slack. I told you I was a math dolt! Lizi? You there? Help me out, girl!)!

Ahem... For me, it's just a good excuse to bake a pie. I might even try cutting out a little π in the crust just for fun.

I looked around for some things on Etsy that might make Pi Day even more enjoyable.

My friend Kim makes these cute little Pi guys!

I also found custom made Pi Keds.

Here's a nice looking Pi wallet:

Or a t-shirt for your little math geek in training:

What about you? Do you celebrate Pi Day at your house? What sorts of things do you do? This will be our first year celebrating and I want to do it up right!

We have a friend who has a party serving pie on pi day :) love it.

If I could have anything? I'd like 3.14 hours of sleep.

This totally gave me an idea for us split personality creative+geeky types (me!) I'm going to freezer stencil a T shirt with the pi symbol as shown in your post, and put "cutie" in front or above the symbol - how fun would that be?

Oh, these are great! I'm loving those shoes, with the numbers on the sides! (And thanks for including Pi Guy!)

Good to know, thanks! May i suggest your Grandmother's French Coconut Pie since you love recipes with buttermilk? ;p

I need some man-friendly pi things as DH just went back to school for his PhD in math. I think pi day is going to be a *big* day in this househole this year. Hmmm, maybe I can make little mini-pies (tartlets) in our mini muffin pan for him to share with his fellow grad students...

This just has me cracking up! You are such a creative/smart/nerdy/beautiful girl! (The best kind.)

I never heard of Pi day, but now I know it's on my birthday! How fun!

These are great! I'm baking a pie with my daughter to bring to school - they celebrate in all the math classes!

I wonder if I can find a decent gluten-free pie crust recipe?
